Cocktail Sauce is so quick and easy to make, there is no excuse for buy the prepackaged variety. It is a zesty accompaniment to shrimp cocktails, fried fish or freshly shucked oysters. Use a freshly opened jar of horseradish and fresh chili powder for best results.
1 cup ketchup
1 tablespoon prepared horseradish
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 teaspoon mild chili powder such as ancho or pasilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
3 dashes of Tabasco sauce
Combine all ingredients thoroughly. Cover and chill until ready to serve.
